About me
Dr Merridy Lithgow is a podiatrist, researcher and clinical educator based in Sydney. She works with people of all ages and activity levels who have foot, ankle and lower leg pain. She holds a Bachelor of Podiatry with First Class Honours from the University of South Australia, an MSc in Podiatry with Clinical Biomechanics from the University of Brighton, and a PhD from La Trobe University, where her research looked at foot structure and movement in people with midfoot osteoarthritis.
Merridy's research has been published in journals including Osteoarthritis and Cartilage and Arthritis Care & Research, and she has taught podiatry at three universities. She turns what the evidence shows into plain, practical advice.
For referring clinicians
Merridy enjoys the more complex cases: running injuries that keep coming back, persistent pain, and orthotics that have not helped. Referrals can go to either clinic (see Contact), and a short summary of the assessment and plan goes back to the referrer.
For research collaborators
Her research uses 3D foot scanning, plantar pressures, imaging and motion analysis to study foot structure and function. Current projects include orthotics for midfoot osteoarthritis and plantar heel pain, and her latest paper looks at 3D foot shape in women with hallux valgus (bunions).
